FRAGRANCE: Labdanum absolute (Cistus ladanifer) is a rich brown resin harvested from the rockrose shrub. Described as “the sweetest-scented of all substances” by early perfumers, its connection to perfumery dates to ancient Egypt when it was used in ceremonial incense. Widely used today to create the scent of amber, labdanum’s highly complex fragrance profile features notes of oak, sycamore, leather, moss, and fossilized amber.
